This gorgeous decorative carpet project was kindly sent to us by Peggy Ann Lord. Peggy, many many thanks!
Peggy has quilt-stitched freestyle curles over a piece of beautiful spanish-red canvas fabric, added embroidery of camels and elephants from Oriental Caravan embroidery designs set, and turned the finished embroidered piece into a decorative mini-carpet. The quilt stitches on background were fulfilled using color-changing embroidery thread, which adds a lovely effect of diversity to the entire project. Then the carpet was stitched to close the edges and create a fished look, and yellow decorative tessels and ribbons were added, for a neat "frame".
As you may see, the carpet has an ability to "stand" vertically - this effect was achieved by inserting copper wire inside the carpet edges. This way the project may serve as a "picture", or be layed flat like a traditional table-runner. Take a look:
