This special half-round pillow project is one of the generous contributions by Bobbie Berry. Bobbie, thank you!
The cushion is in tourquize-colored velvet, adorned with lace design from
Dantela Blocks set, and trimmed with beautiful dolden fringe. Here comes the photo of ready cushion, and the instruction follows:
Instructions1. Draw a paper pattern for the size pillow you wish to make. My pillow pattern is 28 wide by 15 high.
2. Using the pattern, cut out the pillow front and back and set aside.
3. Embroider the design on water soluble stabilizer.
4. Trim WSS to 1 around the design.
NOTE: I used a very high end velvet that could not be washed, so I had to wash away the stabilizer on the embroidery at this point. I was very careful to not stretch the design, and laid it flat to dry.
If you are using a fabric that can be washed, at this point you would pin the design to the front of your pillow, stitch it in place, then wash away the stabilizer, then lay flat to dry.
5. After the design dried, I hand stitched it in place to the front of the pillow.
6. Next pin the trim in place around the outer edge of the front section of the pillow, and stitch.
7. Cut off excess amount of trim at the corners.
8. With right sides together, stitch front to back leaving about a 5 opening at the bottom.
9. Trim corners. Turn right side out and fill with fiberfil. Blind stitch opening. Ready!
